This download is a free evaluation version. I have this little GX280 connected to my 46" LCD Bravia XBR4 Television so I can view all my digital pictures again, via a DVI to HDMI cable and the picture quality is well worth all the effort.Requirements : 300 MHz Processor, 256 MB Ram, 22 MB HDD

I finally gave up fighting and did a clean install of Windows XP Pro in the GX280, and although it took a while to get all the drivers I needed for all the devices, bluetooth wireless keyboard, DVI video card and wireless NIC, I'm back in business and running nicely again. Where I ran into trouble, was the drive I wanted to clone was in an older model Dell with a single SATA connection and no way to hook up both drives at once. I've cloned drives on a regular basis at work, it saves SO much time instead of reloading an operating system from scratch, but always by cloning a system drive to be used as a system drive in an identical computer (we have 42 identical Dells) I want to thank Elvandil for all the time and effort he put in to helping me work through this issue.īut try as I might, I simply could not get it to boot with this drive in the computer.
The boot loader and the SGD are from my site and I know they are safe and clean. This boot disk can hide and unhide partitions, activate partitions, boot Windows or any other OS whether there is an MBR present or not, boot from a second drive, restore Windows boot (equivalent to fdisk /mbr or fixmbr), add or remove GRUB, restore LILO, live-swap drives and more.

SGD Boot Disk - This zip file contains both CD and floppy images. Nevertheless, it has a lot of options if you take the time to find what you want. But I always get confused in its many menus. It searches for bootable partitions and makes a menu of what it finds. The boot loader was one I put together the other day for accessing recovery partitions when the normal method no longer works. At least you'll have some useful tools to use. I wouldn't do it on your other system for fear that you may inactivate your own active partition. You can either try that one, or download the Easeus partition manager (which may actually be a better choice because you could find uses for it later.ĮASEUS Partition Master (Vista-compatible)
At the bootom of the screen is a note about what key to press to make a partition active. So, it's working, but not what I expected. That is the diskpart GUI that you see during installation. That would be a disaster! If I wind up having to reformat and reinstall windows on the computer where I'm getting the "error loading operating system" it wouldn't be the end of the world. what I could do is connect the inactive drive in my main computer, use diskpart from a command prompt there, and make it active, as long as that doesn't de-activate the C: drive in my main computer. It appears the diskpart function from the repair console is very limited, but. I thought perhaps the prompt was off the screen, so I tried typing in select disk 0 and when it got to the letter "D" I get the message "You asked Setup to delete the partition" So, I used diskpart and I do not get to a prompt, I can ESC=Cancel or D=Delete Partition (see attached) It won't allow me to use diskpart.exe, (none of the commands need the file extension I think) I just booted to the disk made with the files you provided, and no difference. Many thanks for this, I've made the new recovery CD, (the one I have been using is a Dell Reinstallation CD.)
